The essay addresses the question of the absence of a homogeneous language in the architectural workshop of the first part of the sixteenth century in Sicily. The reasons for the division of labor and the organization of the workshop are compared with cases where variety appears as a deliberate objective. In many architectures of the time, especially in buildings such as the cathedral of Enna or in certain domed chapels, a singular 'narrative' component emerges, closely related to the historical and geographical context
