This chapter provides an overview of architecture in Southern Italy from the perspective of the history of building. The focus is, in particular, on stone construction and stereotomy, as seen in both exceptional works and those of widespread prevalence, thanks to the mobility of master builders, which was the primary vector for the transfer of technical know-how.
