After 7 October 2023, the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict flared up again, punctuated by fragile ceasefires. The situation is under the spotlight of international criminal justice and beyond, prompting reflection on whether transitional justice mechanisms should be employed to address the past and facilitate progress. Firstly, the topic will be framed by comparing the functionality of judicial and non-judicial transitional justice mechanisms to ensure accountability for international crimes. Subsequently, having reviewed the literature on this conflict through the lens of international criminal justice, the practicability of transitional justice will be considered, as well as which type of mechanism is more effective in achieving it and its importance in building a future of peace.

Abstract
After 7 October 2023, the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict flared up again, punctuated by fragile ceasefires. The situation is under the spotlight of international criminal justice and beyond, prompting reflection on whether transitional justice mechanisms should be employed to address the past and facilitate progress. Firstly, the topic will be framed by comparing the functionality of judicial and non-judicial transitional justice mechanisms to ensure accountability for international crimes. Subsequently, having reviewed the literature on this conflict through the lens of international criminal justice, the practicability of transitional justice will be considered, as well as which type of mechanism is more effective in achieving it and its importance in building a future of peace.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
