The article focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence systems in the performance of banking supervision: first, through a brief historical evolution of the concept under consideration, it identifies the salient features of the European Central Bank's banking supervision function. Second, it examines the applicability of some of the most typical procedural guarantees of the law 241 of 1990. Finally, it asks whether, when the ECB uses AI systems, or where the procedure is automated, the procedural guarantees are equally respected and satisfied.
