The chapter reconstructs the historiographical debate on fascism from its origins to the present day, starting from the central role that the culture of war plays in fascist ideology and in the studies that have investigated this aspect of the movement and the regime. The historiographical survey traces the national and international trajectories of one of the most significant historiographical debates.
