The analysis of the previously unpublished architectural silver and velvet antependium from the Mother Church of San Fratello (Me) serves as the starting point for investigating the corpus of works by the Palermo silversmith Pietro Carlotta, to whom the hallmark PC* is attributed. The examination of these artefacts reveals a leading figure in eighteenth-century silver production and a keen interpreter of the most up-to-date stylistic trends. Assisted by his family workshop, almost certainly composed of his sons Antonino and Giuseppe, the craftsman, whose workshop was based in Palermo, worked across both western and eastern Sicily.

Abstract
The analysis of the previously unpublished architectural silver and velvet antependium from the Mother Church of San Fratello (Me) serves as the starting point for investigating the corpus of works by the Palermo silversmith Pietro Carlotta, to whom the hallmark PC* is attributed. The examination of these artefacts reveals a leading figure in eighteenth-century silver production and a keen interpreter of the most up-to-date stylistic trends. Assisted by his family workshop, almost certainly composed of his sons Antonino and Giuseppe, the craftsman, whose workshop was based in Palermo, worked across both western and eastern Sicily.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
