Oblatività ed estraniazione da Sé: un focus sulle caregiver familiari

Affective rationality in Western culture justifies the ‘gift’ provided in terms of care by the family caregiver towards the disabled person. This ensures the provision of the necessary resources to meet the needs of the frailest by reproducing social and community ties otherwise eluded by relations of an economic nature and oriented by a rationality of ends. What is highlighted in the following pages is the progressive estrangement from one's own self - from one's own desires, one's own self oriented capabilities, one's own emotions - that the family caregiver experiences in taking charge of the well-being, including the emotional well-being, of the person with a disability, and the consequent emotional erosion of one's own will to meet the care receiver's needs.

La razionalità affettiva nella cultura occidentale giustifica il “dono” fornito in termini di cura dalla/dal caregiver familiare nei confronti della persona disabile. Si garantisce così la fornitura delle risorse necessarie per corrispondere ai bisogni del più fragile riproducendo legami sociali e comunitari altrimenti elusi da rapporti di natura economica e orientati da una razionalità dei fini. Ciò che viene posto in luce nelle pagine che seguono è l’estraneazione progressiva dal proprio Sé – dai propri desideri, le proprie capabilities self oriented, dalle proprie emozioni – di cui fa esperienza la caregiver familiare nel farsi carico del benessere, anche emotivo, del soggetto affetto da disabilità, e la conseguente erosione emotiva delle proprie volontà per corrispondere ai bisogni del care receiver.
