This editorial note introduces the twelfth volume of Sapienza Legal Papers, a student-led academic journal under the patronage of the Faculty of Law at Sapienza University of Rome. Reflecting on more than a decade of editorial and scholarly activity, the note highlights the journal’s evolution as a formative space for legal reasoning and academic writing. It explores the dynamic equilibrium between institutional continuity and generational renewal, drawing on classical references to illustrate how structural identity may persist through internal transformation. The editors articulate the mission of the journal as a “gymnasium of legal reasoning,” aimed at fostering students’ critical thinking through original contributions in legal scholarship. The editorial underscores recent structural reforms, including the expansion of thematic sections and the introduction of new publication formats, such as interviews, in response to increasing student engagement and academic visibility. In outlining the contents of the current volume, the note showcases a broad array of legal fields—from administrative and constitutional law to comparative, Roman, civil, and canon law—culminating in a special section dedicated to the Jessup International Moot Court Competition. The editors also reflect on the journal's role within the broader academic community, reaffirming its foundational commitment to promoting collaborative learning, legal craftsmanship, and academic dignity within one of Italy’s oldest universities.
