In Pier Paolo Pasolini’s La rabbia, images of the atomic bomb appear three times. The essay questions the significance of these three occurrences in Pasolini’s editing work, starting with archive images from a “Mondo Libero” newsreel, which had ended its activity a few years before the film was made. The hypothesis is that the atomic bomb represents for Pasolini a confirmation of the opposition between history and myth and that it is an opportunity to experiment with a new cinematic form.

Abstract
In Pier Paolo Pasolini’s La rabbia, images of the atomic bomb appear three times. The essay questions the significance of these three occurrences in Pasolini’s editing work, starting with archive images from a “Mondo Libero” newsreel, which had ended its activity a few years before the film was made. The hypothesis is that the atomic bomb represents for Pasolini a confirmation of the opposition between history and myth and that it is an opportunity to experiment with a new cinematic form.File in questo prodotto:
