In the presbytery of the Cathedral of Milan there is an imposing wooden choir dedicated to Saint Ambrose, commissioned in 1567 by Cardinal Carlo Borromeo to his trusted architect Pellegrino Pellegrini, known as Tibaldi. As part of a rich iconographic program, scenes taken from the life of the Saint decorate the backs of the upper stalls. This contribution intends to analyse the urban views present in some of these scenes and interpret the messages underlying them.
