The concept of the threshold in architecture is configured as a liminal element, capable of simultaneously fulfilling practical, symbolic, and design-related functions. Beyond its constructive definition, the threshold takes on the value of a boundary between opposing spatial and conceptual realms: inside/outside, private/public. Drawing on the theoretical reflections of authors such as George Simmel, Walter Benjamin, and Marc Augé, this work explores the threshold in its multiple abstract and formal meanings. The analysis focuses on the Goetsch-Winckler House by Frank Lloyd Wright, a paradigmatic example of organic architecture, in which the threshold expands and loses its rigid boundaries: transforming into a fluid and progressive path, it integrates landscape and dwelling into a perceptual and functional continuum. The threshold, from a simple passage element, becomes an integral part of the architectural project, capable of representing the profound relationship between dwelling and context. In this framework, it reveals itself not only as a space of transition but as a place of architectural experience.

Abstract
In this framework, it reveals itself not only as a space of transition but as a place of architectural experience.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
