The essay retraces the salient features of Heidegger’s interpretation of the concept of “nature”, from the valorisation of the Greek sense of physis to the thesis of its decay in the transition into the Latin natura. This in order to deny the thesis of an impoverishment that would characterize the aforementioned passage and instead to make the richness of the term both in Greek and Latin a way to reread our relationship with the living, in particular vegetal, in the perspective of a new valorisation of the senses of birth, growth and recomposition that characterize the unity of natural life.

Abstract

The essay retraces the salient features of Heidegger’s interpretation of the concept of “nature”, from the valorisation of the Greek sense of physis to the thesis of its decay in the transition into the Latin natura. This in order to deny the thesis of an impoverishment that would characterize the aforementioned passage and instead to make the richness of the term both in Greek and Latin a way to reread our relationship with the living, in particular vegetal, in the perspective of a new valorisation of the senses of birth, growth and recomposition that characterize the unity of natural life.
