Among the collections of ancient coins dating from the 18th century BC, particular distinction belongs to that of the Bishop of Agrigento, Andrea Lucchesi Palli, a renowned intellectual and scholar of his time. Much admired by Grand Tour travellers, the collection was subsequently dispersed, and today only scant traces remain. By means of surviving documentation, bibliographical research, and archival investigation, this study retraces the history of its formation and the composition of the collection, proposing hypotheses regarding the dynamics of its dispersal
