Community Cooperatives between local development and social innovation: a hybrid Analysis of experiments in Sicily

The research analyses the role of community cooperatives in ‘Community Making’, investigating their dual nature as instruments of local development and social innovation. The study, based on qualitative and quantitative methodologies, examines four experiments active in Sicily, a context in which other local development policies coexist, such as the National Strategy for Inner Areas and Local Action Groups. The analysis highlights the hybrid nature of these experiments, but also the study’s limitations, linked to the lack of analysis of existing strategic frameworks and their degree of integration with these models.
