Artisti, artieri e comunità. Tradizione e avanguardia nello spazio pubblico di Gibellina.

The essay investigates the significant relationship between artists, craftsmen and communities in Gibellina in the dialectic between tradition and avant-garde, with special attention to the public sphere. Gibellina's vocation as the capital of contemporary arts is reiterated, in harmony with the many facets and expressions of creativity (architecture, poetry, theatre, visual arts, museology, urban planning, craftsmanship) which have materialized since the 1968 earthquake. This earthquake was followed by a reconstruction, polarized between the trauma of destruction and the utopia of rebirth, which has few comparisons. The contribution focuses on the important outcomes of the collaboration of great artists, such as Carla Accardi and Pietro Consagra, with local workers and identifies in this synergy a strong identity theme, capable of acting as a driving force for new forms of shared collective rituality.

Il saggio indaga la fertile relazione instauratasi tra artisti, artieri e comunità a Gibellina nella dialettica tra tradizione e avanguardia con un’attenzione speciale per la sfera pubblica. Viene ribadita la vocazione di Gibellina a capitale delle arti contemporanee, in sintonia con le molteplici sfaccettature ed espressioni della creatività (architettura, poesia, teatro, arti visive, museologia, urbanistica, artigianato) concretizzatesi a partire dal terremoto del 1968 cui seguì una ricostruzione, polarizzata tra trauma della distruzione e utopia della rinascita, che ha pochi paragoni. Il contributo si focalizza sugli esiti più felici della collaborazione di artisti autorevoli, come Carla Accardi e Pietro Consagra, con le maestranze locali e individua in questa sinergia un forte tema identitario, capace di fungere da motore per nuove forme di ritualità collettiva condivisa.
