Dall’infinitamente piccolo all’infinitamente vasto. Calvino, Perec e le cose

This article aims to study the relationship between Calvino and Perec by analyzing their shared obsession with detail, the use of lists and descriptions as cognitive and mnemonic tools, useful for representing the totality of human experience, often hidden in the banality of everyday life. By highlighting the connections between the two authors, the reflection intends to demonstrate how the meticulous description of the infra-ordinary (the banal everyday) becomes a way to represent reality in all its complexity. Calvino and Perec also share the influence of hyperrealism, particularly that of Domenico Gnoli, from whom they draw their interest in detail as a tool to evoke the imaginary and the dream, and both see in the obsessive description of small particulars a form of knowledge, a tension between the finite and the infinite, between the real and the invisible.

Questo articolo intende studiare il rapporto tra Calvino e Perec analizzando la comune ossessione per il dettaglio, l’uso della lista e della descrizione come strumenti conoscitivi e mnemonici, utili a rappresentare la totalità dell’esperienza umana, spesso nascosta nella banalità del quotidiano.. Sottolineando i rimandi fra i due autori la riflessione intende dimostrare come la descrizione minuziosa dell’infra-ordinario (il banale quotidiano) diventi una via per rappresentare il reale in tutta la sua complessità. Calvino e Perec condividono tra l'altro l’influenza dell’iperrealismo, in particolare di Domenico Gnoli, da cui traggono l’interesse per il dettaglio come strumento per evocare l’immaginario e il sogno ed entrambi vedono nella descrizione ossessiva dei piccoli particolari una forma di conoscenza, una tensione tra il finito e l’infinito, tra reale e invisibile.
