The essay analyses the competition project for the Ljubljana NUK2 library created by the Spanish studio AmannCanovasMaruri. This project is in fact an example of a compositional approach that uses the theme of patchwork to generate a new architectural form. This system is obtained from the ideal decomposition and recomposition of volumetric elements cut from the NUK building designed by Joze Plečnik and transferred to the new building to define the new planimetric and volumetric shape.
