Il principio della natura e il problema della forza nel Tentamen anagogicum

In my paper, I aim to contribute to the understanding of the Leibnizian concept of force. For a detailed, solid, and in-depth study of this notion, the Tentamen Anagogicum is a particularly valuable text, due to the perplexities it raises regarding the role and importance of force in Leibniz’s metaphysics. While in works such as Essais de dynamique, Système nouveau, and De ipsa natura, the philosopher employs the notion of force to explain and identify the principles of substances, in the Tentamen Anagogicum this function appears to be entirely fulfilled by the notion of perfection. What, then, is the “true” principle of nature and of substances? What is the relationship between force and perfection? And how should we conceive of the former? Through the study and analysis of the Tentamen Anagogicum, my contribution seeks to answer these questions.
