After setting out some of the main reasons for limiting the investigation to the advisory contributions provided by the Council of State on legal issues encountered by the P.A., particularly those concerning the religious phenomenon, this paper proceeds to a first survey of the outcomes of this peculiar area of activity over the past forty years. The paper concludes by emphasising the benefits brought to this ‘sectoral consultative law’ by the unveiling of the supreme principle of secularity and by the focus operated by the Consulta of its naturally dialogic-cooperative direction, resulting in a discernible interpretative nouvelle vague’.
