The chapter introduces the reserach projects based on an interview campaign began in May 2024 and was completed within the first ten days of July of the same year. Although a snowball sampling method was adopted—thus relying on a non-probabilistic sample—we took care to diversify the selection of students to be interviewed as much as possible. This approach aimed to avoid overrepresenting certain groups while underrepresenting others. The numerous questions posed to the students allowed us to gather a broad range of information, enabling us to paint a fairly comprehensive picture of the interviewees’ circumstances. Even more importantly, thanks to our students’ testimonies, we are now better equipped not only to recognize microaggressions, but also—and above all—to make a meaningful contribution to strengthening the initiatives already undertaken by our University to build an increasingly inclusive environment for everyone in the academic community.
