This contribution aims to reflect on specific aspects that have emerged from action research and training activities. The primary objective of the study is to enhance the potential of general and intercultural pedagogy in supporting the Green Transition, by actively involving students with both migratory and autochthonous backgrounds, as well as teachers, in sustainability education processes. Conducted between 2023 and 2024, the research involved 20 teachers from Provincial Centres for Adult Education (CPIA) and Training Institutions in Sicily. The study employed a phenomenological-hermeneutic methodology and was guided by two core research questions: (1) What knowledge and competencies should students acquire to develop sustainable ways of thinking and acting? (2) What educational content should be prioritised in fostering sustainable citizenship within multicultural school contexts? Drawing on the GreenComp Framework, the study identified key descriptors necessary for designing and implementing environmental sustainability education in multicultural classrooms.
