Isolation on culture media followed withmacroscopic, microscopic, molecular and phylogeneticanalyses and pathogenicity tests allowed us toidentify Pythium capillosum to be capable of destroyingdagger nematode through endozoic parasitismfrom ingested oomycete zoospores. Although endoparasitismof free-living nematodes is found to becommon among oomycetes in nature, this is the firstfinding of such occurrence in Bosnia and Herzegovinasoils. The obtained results could open the doorto future studies for controlling nematodes in an environmentallysafe and sustainable way.
