The paper presents the developments of two studies about the meaning of permanencies, resulting from natural or artificial disaster. Both of them aim at delving into an established theoretical and practical approach based on considering the city as a continuous stratification. According to this idea, the rubbles are not only debris, but they contribute to the construction of the city. The paper proposes their role as environmental protection, as well as cultural and landscape connection, to underline those reusing rubbles is a necessary requirement and an opportunity for sustainable urban planning.

Abstract

The paper presents the developments of two studies about the meaning of permanencies, resulting from natural or artificial disaster. Both of them aim at delving into an established theoretical and practical approach based on considering the city as a continuous stratification. According to this idea, the rubbles are not only debris, but they contribute to the construction of the city. The paper proposes their role as environmental protection, as well as cultural and landscape connection, to underline those reusing rubbles is a necessary requirement and an opportunity for sustainable urban planning.
