Based on a selection of documentary and literary sources written in the three languages of the Norman court in Sicily, this article aims to highlight the way in which the interaction between legal knowledge and rhetorical techniques contributed to enhance the political legitimacy of the kingdom, forging a concept of kingship leaning on the convergence of different cultural traditions.
