Geomaterials in Construction. Technological and Environmental Coordinates

The Contribution outlines a reference horizon to which to refer the research included in the collected volume in which it is inserted, identifying three possible sides of the analysis of geomaterials under the lens of Technological and Environmental Design of Architecture: the technological complexity of production processes, the reasons for the durability of structures as a filter for evaluating the quality of materials, the possibilities of reducing consumption in mining activities and planning ‘secondary uses’ of materials.

Il Contributo delinea un orizzonte di riferimento al quale riferire le ricerche confluite nel volume collettaneo in cui si inserisce, individuando tre possibili versanti di analisi dei geomateriali sotto la lente della Progettazione Tecnologica e Ambientale dell’Architettura: la complessità tecnologica dei processi produttivi, le ragioni della durevolezza delle strutture come filtro per la valutazione della qualità dei materiali, le possibilità di ridurre il consumo nelle attività estrattive e di pianificare “usi secondari” dei materiali.
