To reconcile individual needs related to private life (such as education and leisure), family responsibilities (including childcare, family care, and domestic work), and employment, part-time work is often seen as an appropriate form of employment. However, the decision to work part-time is not always entirely voluntary. This paper examines the growing phenomenon of involuntary part-time employment, affecting individuals who seek full-time positions but are unable to secure employment that better meets their needs. The analysis highlights that involuntary part-time work is more prevalent among women. In many cases, the absence of adequate social services and support infrastructure compels women to choose part-time work as a means of balancing paid employment, caregiving and family responsibilities. This, in turn, leads to inadequate wage conditions and restricted opportunities for career advancement for women.

Abstract
This, in turn, leads to inadequate wage conditions and restricted opportunities for career advancement for women.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
