Aischrón e geloîon

The very close relationship in the poetics of ancient Greek Comedy between the notion of aischrón ("shameful", "obscene") and that of geloîon ("ridiculous") is discussed briefly, starting from the presentation of the character of Thersites in Iliad 2, with a reflection on the political function of laughter and its possibly cathartic effects on the theatre audience in the context of performances in Athens in the 5th century, and this starting from the scant surviving testimonies of the second book of Aristotle's Poetics.

Si discute sinteticamente, prendendo spunto dalla presentazione del personaggio di Tersite in Iliade 2, il rapporto molto stretto in atto nella poetica della Commedia greca antica tra la nozione di aischrón ("turpe", "osceno") e quella di geloîon ("ridicolo"), con una riflessione sulla funzione politica del riso e dei suoi effetti possibilmente catartaci sul pubblico del teatro nell'ambito delle rappresentazioni ad Atene nel V sec., e ciò a partire dalle scarne testimonianze superstiti del II libro della Poetica di Aristotele.
