The article focuses on the non-fictional production of the Italian poet, novelist, and screenplayer Vincenzo Cerami (1940-2013), who is mostly known for his non-fiction short stories "Fattacci". The essay investigates the peculiar relationship established by Cerami with the so-called reality of the murders and studies "Fattacci" in the light of his screenwriting (e.g. the novelization of Roberto Benigni's "Il mostro") and in comparison with Matteo Garrone, who has been influenced by Cerami's approach in his movies.
