This article deals with some anthropological topics – creation, sin and evil, predestination, and afterlife – found in Qumran writings. Despite the fragmentary of the Scrolls, and the uncertainty of their origin, a comparison with the Old Testament on one hand and with the Second Temple Judaism on the other is possible. This comparison reveals the peculiarity of the Qumranic sect among the different currents of the Judaism at the beginning of Christian era.

Abstract

This article deals with some anthropological topics – creation, sin and evil, predestination, and afterlife – found in Qumran writings. Despite the fragmentary of the Scrolls, and the uncertainty of their origin, a comparison with the Old Testament on one hand and with the Second Temple Judaism on the other is possible.
