The Archaeological Research of the University of Palermo in Libya: Ongoing Projects and New Perspectives · Based on the long experience of the archaeological mission of the University of Palermo in Libya, under the direction of prof. Nicola Bonacasa until 2015 (from 1976 in Sabratha, then in Leptis Magna and from 1997 in Cyrene) and then led by the present author, the paper reviews the mission’s efforts over the last years, in which there was a 10-year break in the campaigns on the ground (used in part by us to digitize and systematize our photo archive, with a view to making it accessible on line in the future), and outlines the aims and future prospects of mission’s activities. Here, we will say very briefly about our work in Cyrene (where the anastylosis of the temple of Zeus is almost complete, but investigations and enhancement work remain to be done in the sanctuary) and Leptis (where we expect to continue our research after the completion of some ongoing work). We will focus on Sabratha site, on which we have continued to work on remotely, highlighting the research perspectives that emerged from the last studies on the monumental complexes and urbanism, based on the activities carried out on site until 2013, and the priorities for intervention when (very soon) on site work will restart.

Abstract
We will focus on Sabratha site, on which we have continued to work on remotely, highlighting the research perspectives that emerged from the last studies on the monumental complexes and urbanism, based on the activities carried out on site until 2013, and the priorities for intervention when (very soon) on site work will restart.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
