The contribution is dedicated to the analysis of the relationship between literature and messianism, on the basis of four short examples; two concern the early twentieth century, and consist of the poetry of Aleksandr Blok and the prose of Franz Kafka, two our time, and in this case we find W.G. Sebald and Marija Stepanova. The analysis moves through the different forms of temporality of these writings, and aims to highlight different positions of literature towards the theme of salvation and messianic time.
