The objective of this study is to analyse certain distinctive features of the Vandalic language as documented in medieval treatises. These treatises provide limited yet valuable evidence of the language, shedding light on the intricate and diverse dynamics involved in the process of Romanisation and the perception of the Vandalic language as portrayed in late Latin sources. As the main sources for our analysis, in addition to the undeniable contribution of onomastics, representative of characteristic elements of the Germanic languages and the sense of community identity that was being built up in the Vandal kingdom, the sources from the Collatio beati Augustini cum Pascentio Ariano and the Anthologia Latina in the version handed down by the Codex Salmasianus were taken into consideration

Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyse certain distinctive features of the Vandalic language as documented in medieval treatises. These treatises provide limited yet valuable evidence of the language, shedding light on the intricate and diverse dynamics involved in the process of Romanisation and the perception of the Vandalic language as portrayed in late Latin sources. As the main sources for our analysis, in addition to the undeniable contribution of onomastics, representative of characteristic elements of the Germanic languages and the sense of community identity that was being built up in the Vandal kingdom, the sources from the Collatio beati Augustini cum Pascentio Ariano and the Anthologia Latina in the version handed down by the Codex Salmasianus were taken into considerationFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
