The article explores the practice of adaptive reuse in architecture as a sustainable and necessary approach in response to the contemporary environmental, social and economic crisis. Historically, adaptive reuse has allowed buildings to resist over time by transforming and finding new meanings and functions. This principle also finds application in the contemporary era through projects that reinterpret different typologies and even historical architecture. Specifically, the article analyzes recent case studies in Europe, where disused industrial buildings have been transformed into cultural, residential and workspaces through innovative and sustainable architectural interventions. Finally, an experimental project in Palermo is illustrated, which through the adaptive reuse of historic buildings and urban spaces, proposes solutions that integrate sustainability and heritage enhancement, promoting a resilient architecture that is attentive to natural and settlement resources. The objective of the contribution is, therefore, to outline some project strategies also through an educational experience which, regardless of the results, is presented as an opportunity for the formation of a conscience and an awareness of architectural and environmental education.
Nello specifico, l'articolo analizza recenti casi studio in Europa, dove edifici industriali dismessi sono stati trasformati in spazi culturali, residenziali e lavorativi tramite interventi architettonici innovativi e sostenibili.

Abstract
The objective of the contribution is, therefore, to outline some project strategies also through an educational experience which, regardless of the results, is presented as an opportunity for the formation of a conscience and an awareness of architectural and environmental education.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
