Using the tools of literary studies and visual culture, the paper aims to analyse the mountains as the natural environment in which Buzzati was formed and tempered. The Dolomites were the privileged landscape that he observed as a future mountaineer during his childhood and in the holidays of his life, and those peaks, understood as represented space, became the backdrop for Buzzati's literature and painting. It is therefore impossible to get to know the man, the mountaineer, the writer, the journalist and the painter Buzzati without referring to his mountains, beloved both as an uncontaminated and man-made environment, a decisive ecosystem in every phase of his life, of which he recorded the transformations of the landscape, the changes in lifestyles, to the point of identifying the new and critical elements, which would become a recurring theme in his art.

Abstract
Using the tools of literary studies and visual culture, the paper aims to analyse the mountains as the natural environment in which Buzzati was formed and tempered. The Dolomites were the privileged landscape that he observed as a future mountaineer during his childhood and in the holidays of his life, and those peaks, understood as represented space, became the backdrop for Buzzati's literature and painting. It is therefore impossible to get to know the man, the mountaineer, the writer, the journalist and the painter Buzzati without referring to his mountains, beloved both as an uncontaminated and man-made environment, a decisive ecosystem in every phase of his life, of which he recorded the transformations of the landscape, the changes in lifestyles, to the point of identifying the new and critical elements, which would become a recurring theme in his art.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
