Turcos y Turcherie. Una Paradoja entre Representación e Imitación del enemigo en Occidente (siglos XVI-XVIII).

Between the sixteenth and seventeenth siglos began to circulate in the West representations of Turkish, seen as the last precursor of the barbarian customs and traditions, facing western civilization. Especially in the Baroque period, the expression “Turquerie” was coined for indicate turkish products and objects which, combined with the “Chinoiseries”, were converted into an object of desire by the European elites.
