Mai più “Cattiva” Architettura: un’analisi fra Bello e Brutto

Abstract Reconsidering what has been constructed, re-examining both the methods and the reasons for each artefact, analyzing the performance repercussions, pausing to meditate on the mistakes made, all these actions are increasingly necessary globally, but specifically in architecture. Things that are made badly remain ugly forever, and today every kind of wasteful, superfluous, energy-consuming activity must be definitively eliminated. The world of construction has a serious impact on the environment, yet even today we observe wicked achievements that often derive from manias of protagonism that we can no longer accept. We are overdue for trying to deal with what we have done and how we have done it - the questions remain seemingly unanswered: what will we pass on to future generations from this built environment? - what relationship can there be between the beauty (ugliness) of artefacts and their good (or bad) realization? Does architecture, considered as an art form, represent both beauty and ugliness in a tangible way? This contribution aims to investigate this gap by making ‘certain’ the answers we are obliged to give ourselves without any more waste of any kind. The Doomsday Clock with its countdown remains drastically smaller and smaller, it is time to hurry up.

Rivedere il costruito, riesaminare sia le modalità sia le ragioni di ogni manufatto, valutare le ricadute prestazionali, soffermarsi a meditare sugli errori commessi, sono azioni sempre più cogenti, sempre più necessarie a livello globale, ma nel particolare nell’architettura. Le cose fatte male restano brutte sempre ed oggi deve esser definitivamente divelto ogni tipo di spreco, di superfluo, di attività energivora, eliminando definitivamente ogni azione voluttuaria. Il mondo del costruito ha un impatto gravemente incidente sull’ambiente ad ogni latitudine, tuttavia ancora osserviamo realizzazioni scellerate spesso figlie di desideri da palcoscenico che non possiamo più accettare. Siamo in ritardo dall’entrare nel merito di ciò che abbiamo fatto e di come lo abbiamo fatto – le domande restano apparentemente aperte: di questo scenario del costruito cosa trasferiremo alle future generazioni? – che rapporto può esserci fra bellezza (bruttezza) dei manufatti e la bontà realizzazione degli stessi? L'architettura, considerata come una forma d'arte, rappresenta sia la bellezza che la bruttezza in maniera tangibile? Il contributo vuole indagare tale solco rendendo ‘certe’ le risposte che abbiamo l’obbligo di darci senza più orpelli e sprechi d’ogni tipo. Il Doomsday Clock con il suo conto alla rovescia rimane drasticamente sempre più piccolo, è tempo di sbrigarsi.
