Case che guardano il mare

Especially in small islands houses look at the sea. The sea is observed by many eyes that enjoy the beauty of the landscape and return it in the forms of architecture. These eyes reveal the essence of a particular spatial condition (the island) and express the characters and ways of living. Many of these houses have arisen almost spontaneously; for others it is possible to reconstruct the genealogy; some belong to the myth. The study of some houses that look at the sea (where the minimum size of living becomes relevant) in the geography of small Mediterranean islands, become a pre-text for a research on the characteristics of the house that is intended to be combined with educational experiences developed for several years in the schools of Architecture and Engineering of the University of Palermo that have explored the ways in which inhabiting the island can be constituted as expression of memory and invention in the specificity of the contemporary home.

Specialmente nelle piccole isole le case guardano il mare. Il mare è osservato da tanti occhi che godono della bellezza del paesaggio e la restituiscono nelle forme dell’architettura. Questi occhi rivelano l'essenza di una particolare condizione spaziale (quella insulare) ed esprimono i caratteri e i modi dell'abitare. Molte di queste case sono sorte quasi spontaneamente; di altre è possibile ricostruire la genealogia; alcune appartengono al mito. Lo studio di alcune case che guardano il mare (in cui diventa rilevante la dimensione minima dell’abitare) nella geografia di piccole isole del Mediterraneo, diventa pre-testo per una ricerca sui caratteri della casa che si intende affiancare ad esperienze didattiche sviluppate per diversi anni nelle scuole di Architettura e di Ingegneria dell’Università di Palermo che hanno esplorato i modi in cui abitare l’isola può costituirsi come espressione di memoria e di invenzione nella specificità della casa contemporanea.
