Un Lezionario dei Vangeli di Giorgio Isakiotes, giudice del velum e dell’ippodromo: il codice Amherst (MA), Amherst College Library, MS L4

This contribution is devoted to the codicological and paleographic study of the manuscript Amherst (MA), Amherst College Library, MS L4, a little-studied Greek Gospels Lectionary that was long dated to the 13th or 13th-14th century. The new analysis conducted on the codex allows the author to backdate the manuscript to the last few decades of the 11th century. The writing used to compose the manuscript, which was the work of an anonymous scribe, can be traced to the so-called «late» Perlschrift. Moreover, a purchase note that’s never been reported so far reveals the name of a man, Georgios Isakiotes, judge of the velum and of the hippodrome, who is attested in three seals and who is believed to have lived in the 11th century.

Il presente contributo è dedicato allo studio codicologico e paleografico del manoscritto Amherst (MA), Amherst College Library, MS L4, un Lezionario dei Vangeli in lingua greca sinora poco studiato e datato al XIII o al XIII-XIV secolo. La nuova analisi condotta sul codice induce l’autrice a retrodatare tale testimone verso i decenni finali del secolo XI. La scrittura adoperata per vergare il manoscritto, infatti, opera di un copista anonimo, è inscrivibile nell’ambito della Perlschrift tarda; inoltre, una nota di acquisto finora mai rilevata né letta rivela il nome di un personaggio, Giorgio Isakiotes, giudice del velum e dell’ippodromo, che risulta attestato anche in tre sigilli e che si ritiene vissuto proprio nell’XI secolo.
