Abstract

Almost all italian literature regards national issue. Most of the canonic literary works evoke, name or generally relate to Italy: they indicate borders, illustrate orography, celebrate landscape; or, over time, they were used to "nationalise" imagery and to educate citizens, to describe their customs and presumed character. This is the reason why it would be impossible, if not pointless, to conduct a census of them. This essay illustrates the result of a less sweeping and more rigorous and circumscribed recognition to the topic "Italia" in the italian literary tradition and it describes some praticable distances and some directives of research beginnin from these traces
