In Seneca's Phaedra, slander is presented as a "retaliation" of the crimen. To understand its relevant features from a dramaturgical and anthropological point of view, it will be useful to examine some crucial phases of the tragedy through the specific tools of the Pragmatic of Communication, which will allow us to clarify the way in which Seneca represents this practice of negative reciprocity.
