The perspective offered by the Classical Reception Studies is very important in the teaching of ancient literature and the continuity of the Greek language through the centuries can undoubtedly help students in understanding it. This contribution explores the traits of the character of Orestes in the works of some contemporary Greek playwrights and in particular in the Ghiannis Ritsos’ “Fourth Dimension”. Here Orestes is a modern hero who cultivates doubt and rejects the heroic status.
