In view of the upcoming Royal Mummy Project in Egypt and expected scientific publications, we wish to highlight some of the problems intrinsically associated with the diagnosis of diseases in the Ancient World, based on our experience studying royal remains from Ancient Egypt over the past years, e.g., Queen Meresankh III [1] or the unnamed potential royal mummy Cairo CG 61076 [2].
