The contribution relates the opposition between analog and digital photography to that between qualitative and quantitative, highlighting how quantity does not necessarily exclude quality. The ease, availability, and ubiquity of digital photography do not inevitably lead to a decrease in the pursuit of quality or a lack of meaning. On the contrary, the new expressive potential of the medium requires a new qualitative investment, capable of renewing photographic practice. In this sense, the work of Stephen Shore is of extreme interest, as the American photographer has been able to evolve his photographic language in harmony with the technical innovations, devices, and opportunities that they allow.

Abstract
The contribution relates the opposition between analog and digital photography to that between qualitative and quantitative, highlighting how quantity does not necessarily exclude quality. The ease, availability, and ubiquity of digital photography do not inevitably lead to a decrease in the pursuit of quality or a lack of meaning. On the contrary, the new expressive potential of the medium requires a new qualitative investment, capable of renewing photographic practice. In this sense, the work of Stephen Shore is of extreme interest, as the American photographer has been able to evolve his photographic language in harmony with the technical innovations, devices, and opportunities that they allow.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
