Abstract
Right from the title of the first editorial of «In Architettura », “La rivoluzione insediativa. I nuovi doveri”, stands as a petit manifeste for the affirmation of new positions in the field of architecture. To the uncontrolled settlement revolution that took place in the thirty years of intense post-war urban development, Culotta proposes to respond with another settlement revolution, that of architectural design. The intentions are clear and ambitious and, for the part of the world to which they refer, avant-garde. If it is true that in the settlement revolution the universe was „built but not designed“ then it will also be true that the universe can be designed. It must also be true that reinforced concrete is not an instrument of destruction but a material for building «admirable works and places of architecture». The references to the events of the 1970s thus become an opportunity to bring out a different perspective which seeks from the pages of the newspaper to bring to the surface profound disciplinary questions not marked by time, with the curiosity and desire for experimentation of design scientists. It is a perspective offered in opposition to the moralistic attitude of conservatives, who are such due to their incapacity and fear of confronting change, and it is above all a perspective that “encompasses all the materiality of the world”.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
