Abstract

Vito Noto has never traveled the "Sicilian way of design", but crossing the entire peninsula he landed in another country, which, although close to Italy, has a different culture and a historic and recognized school of design. Its history has thus taken on a form that perhaps could have been completely different if it had ever thought of staying on its island, where the Palermo school of design grew and consolidated. Its history would certainly have crossed that of Anna Maria Fundarò who was a stubborn and visionary creator and supporter of the school, assuming a role that is both recognized nationally and internationally as well as contrasted and isolated locally in the academic context to which she belongs; elements that have made the school, without significantly impeding its development, an island within an island.
