The present research work aims at the design of a sustainable building, a small holiday home single-family house in Villaggio San Teodoro, Marsala (TP). A territorial classification, the assessment of the climatic data and a study of the solar paths made possible the most passive strategies for the improvement of indoor and outdoor comfort. Interesting and reasoned was the study of the prevailing winds and the relative positioning and sizing of the openings, including on the roof, in order to favor natural ventilation inside the building. The effectiveness of these solutions have been proven by fluid dynamics analyzes with Ansys Fluent software, Revit and Daylight Visualizer in order to determine the quality and comfort of the environments. Finally, the sizing of the systems and the evaluation of the most performing solutions to further improve the energy efficiency of the building. The study and analysis made it possible to establish how realistic, feasible and convenient the design was from all points of view. Finally, the energy performance certificate produced the desired results, proving the correct procedure followed and the affirmation of a high, efficient energy class, and therefore an nZEB building.
