Transumanesimo e postumanesimo alla luce della plasticità

Posthumanism and transhumanism share a common idea: the “man of today” is the anticipation of something new. The promoters of these theoretical movements are convinced that pharmacology, nanotechnology, genetic manipulation and techno-sciences will shape a new humanity. In fact, man characterizes himself for high plasticity, a concept analyzed by the French thinker Catherine Malabou and which indicates the aptitude to give and receive form. In this essay we propose to clarify why the principle of plastic variation represents the battlefield between the theoretical approaches of humanism and post-humanism and, secondly, to delineate the different way in which transhumanism and posthumanism conceive the transformation and the improvement of the current man.

Postumanesimo e transumanesimo condividono la stessa idea: l’“uomo di oggi” è l’anticipazione di qualcosa di nuovo. I promotori di tali movimenti teorici sono convinti che la farmacologia, la nanotecnologia, la manipolazione genetica e le tecno-scienze plasmeranno una nuova umanità. L’essere umano si caratterizza, infatti, per un’elevata plasticità, concetto analizzato dalla pensatrice francese Catherine Malabou e che indica l’attitudine a dare e ricevere forma. Nella presente trattazione ci proponiamo di chiarire perché il principio di variazione plastica rappresenti il campo di battaglia fra la prospettiva teorica umanista e quella postumanista e, in secondo luogo, di delineare il diverso modo in cui transumanesimo e postumanesimo concepiscono la trasformazione e il miglioramento dell’uomo attuale.
