This short essay is part of a collection of recollections of Giuseppe Pagnano dedicated to him by the members of the Scientific Committee of Ikhnos and by some of his longstanding students, now recognised scholars, who, in complete freedom and with an absolutely personal approach, have wished to pay tribute to him with texts that are completely devoid of hagiographic overtones and which manage to give a fairly complete idea of the complexity and extraordinary nature of his figure.
