Periferie metropolitane e forme insediative a Palermo

The metropolitan suburbs, evidence new dynamics and diffusion of the present urbanization processes, above all, the various nature of the phenomenon. They are emergent elements of new metropolitan landscape; they show the deep changes happened in the economic structure of our society; they produce important effects for organization of the local communities and for the continuous loss of agricultural spaces and of natural resources. The paper proposes to analyze the configurations of the structure spaces of the suburbs of the metropolitan area of Palermo characterizing some the processes (dispersion, sprawl, thicken, substitution, polarization, transformation...) and the constituent elements, often make up the traditional urban materials, but new in the shapes in the modalities of use, in territorial localization and dynamics that of it has determined the appearance.
