The task of education (in formal and non-formal contexts) must be redefined from a media-educational point of view and consequently analyzed in much broader, complex and systemic terms, also in Italy. It is not so much (or only) to educate with the media, nor to educate a lot (or only) to the safe and responsible uses of the Internet to fight from time to time that cyberbullying, fake news or hate speech. Rather, it is about educating the media as complex systems of signification / representation, industrial production and social control.
Il compito dell’educazione (nei contesti formali e non formali) deve essere ridefinito in un’ottica mediaeducativa e di conseguenza analizzato in termini molto più ampi, complessi e sistemici, anche in Italia. Non si tratta tanto (o soltanto) di educare con i media, né di educare tanto (o soltanto) agli usi sicuri e responsabili della Rete per combattere di volta in volta fenomeni come il cyberbullismo, le fake news o i discorsi di odio. Si tratta piuttosto di educare ai media come sistemi complessi di significazione/rappresentazione, produ- zione industriale e controllo sociale.
